DIA EGYPT 2025 was hosted as a leading regional medical congress, convening healthcare professionals across the Middle East to explore advances in endocrinology and metabolic medicine. Organized by ICOM Group, the event combined in-person and digital experiences to deliver a robust scientific program for over 2,600 participants.

Background:

Launched as a scientific conference to address the growing regional and global burden of diabetes, DIA EGYPT has evolved into one of the Middle East’s most influential medical congresses focused on endocrinology and metabolic medicine.

Under the stewardship of ICOM Group, the 2025 edition marked a pivotal moment. The program shifted from treatment toward transformation, where data, innovation, and empathy converge to redefine the patient experience.

Established in 2013, the Egyptian Society of Diabetes and Lipidology (ESDL) is a national platform dedicated to advancing knowledge, research, and clinical excellence in diabetes care. Through its flagship annual congress, ongoing education, publications, and public awareness initiatives, ESDL engages medical professionals and communities in building a culture of prevention and improved quality of life.

Challenges:

As the congress expanded in scope and scale, ICOM Group faced several strategic challenges common to global medical meetings:

  • Balancing Hybrid Delivery: Maintaining engagement and learning parity between in-person and virtual attendees.

  • Scientific Integration: Coordinating a multidisciplinary program with multiple societies and international experts, while ensuring coherence and academic quality. This included:

    • Memorial Lectures honoring pioneers in diabetes care

    • Joint sessions with international associations from the UK, Greece, Spain, and Italy

    • Rising Stars Sessions and workshops featuring early-career research

    • Symposia with pharmaceutical leaders presenting the latest in cardio-renal-metabolic therapeutics and digital diabetes care

  • Regional Accessibility: Extending access to physicians across the MENA region, despite travel and cost barriers.

  • Sponsorship and Partnership Optimization: Aligning scientific independence with industry partner interests to support sustainable event growth.

Solutions:

ICOM Group applied its 28+ years of international event experience to deliver a seamless and high-impact congress using strategic, operational, and technological innovation:

  • Integrated Hybrid Platform: Created a unified experience that enabled all participants to access sessions, recordings, and Q&A tools regardless of location.

  • Collaborative Scientific Design: Partnered with international societies to co-develop sessions tailored to both global perspectives and local needs.

  • Young Physician Engagement: Launched the Rising Stars Sessions to feature new research and support early-career professionals.

  • Compliant CME Framework: Secured AACME Category 1 accreditation, offering 25 certified CME hours and ensuring international standards of educational rigor.

  • Strategic Brand Partnerships: Curated symposia with pharmaceutical leaders showcasing innovation in therapeutics and digital health.

Outcomes:

DIA EGYPT 2025 exceeded expectations in both impact and reach, further establishing its leadership in the regional medical conference landscape:

  • Attendance: 2,613 participants (2,034 in-person and 579 virtual)

  • Faculty: 145 speakers including 21 international experts

  • Program: 23 scientific sessions and workshops

  • CME Accreditation: 25 AACME Category 1 credit hours

  • Digital Reach: 10,000+ online engagements and 20% growth in social media activity during congress week

The congress demonstrated how accredited hybrid scientific meetings can deliver measurable professional, scientific, and reputational value in emerging markets.
