Innovative Spatial Solutions for German Nursing Day 2025 | CPO HANSER SERVICE Case Study

About the Event

German Nursing Day 2025

Location: hub27, Messe Berlin

Participant capacity: max. 5,000 people per day

Challenge

German Nursing Day 2025 experienced very high demand from participants as well as from sponsors and exhibitors. The booked capacity of hub27, limited to 5,000 people, along with the restricted number of conventional lecture rooms, was insufficient to accommodate all requested sessions.

The congress has grown significantly over the years, and it has become increasingly challenging to accommodate demand within the existing premises. The close integration of the exhibition and congress is a central element of German Nursing Day and offers significant added value for participants, exhibitors, and speakers.

Solution

Instead of creating additional fixed session rooms, an innovative spatial concept was developed within the exhibition area. The aim was to introduce new stage formats without compromising the openness and dynamic character of the exhibition space.

Implemented measures:

• HotSpot Stage:

A freestanding stage within the exhibition area, serving as a focal point for short presentations, live podcasts and panel discussions.

• PflegeToGo Stage (NursingToGo):

An integrated stage within an exhibitor stand, enabling short, practice-oriented sessions directly in the relevant product and thematic environment.

• SERVIER ARENA:

A temporary pop-up session room that seats approximately 70 people, designed as an additional presentation area for panel discussions, elevator pitches from the adjacent start-up area, and interactive formats.

These flexible stage formats complemented the existing spatial offering and significantly expanded programme capacity – without the need for additional halls or structural modifications.

Outcome

  • Expansion of the lecture programme despite limited space capacity

  • Significantly increased foot fall within the exhibition, as sessions were deliberately

  • integrated into the exhibition area

  • Increased duration of visit time at exhibitor stands and according to exhibitor testimonials a profound interaction with participants

  • A vibrant, open congress atmosphere that encouraged exchange, knowledge transfer and networking

  • Efficient use of the available space without compromising quality or content

Conclusion

Through creative, temporary spatial solutions within the exhibition area, The German Nursing Day 2025 successfully overcame its content-related and spatial challenges. The concept demonstrated how limited space capacity can be transformed into added value through intelligent planning – and how exhibitions and congress formats can be even more closely integrated.

Hermann Hanser, Managing Owner of CPO HANSER SERVICE GmbH:

“Instead of looking for more space, we rethought the space we already had. The temporary stage formats allowed us to interlink programme content, exhibition, and dialogue more closely.”
