Shoot the book! is a program of professional meetings designed to support the presence of French publishers on the major international audiovisual markets and to promote the audiovisual adaptation of French literary works of fiction.
An initiative of the Institut français and the Société civile des éditeurs de langue française (SCELF) supported by the Bureau international de l'édition française, the Shoot the book! operation is organized during major international film events (Cannes Film Festival, American Film Market in Los Angeles, Shanghai International Film Festival, etc.).
Shoot The Book! 2020 Shanghai was one of the main forums in the third Hainan International Film Festival, connecting the French Consulate and Chinese audiences. As a live broadcasted program the biggest challenge East Star faced was with managing the international internet connection as well as coordinating the simultaneous transmission of the live stream alongside the presentation slides and video content.
EastStar’s strategies included detailed communication and coordination with local supplliers in Hainan and repeated rehersals of the programme in preparation which all contributed to the success of the virtual conference.
