Washington, D.C. Our partner Smithbucklin announced leadership changes this week. Congratulations to James McNeil for his role heading up their association management business.

Smithbucklin is a leader in helping associations achieve growth, announced the creation of a new network-based organizational structure and leadership role designed to serve the dynamic and emerging needs of the association marketplace.

"Associations are 21st-century networks built upon deep roots of community, professional development and a commitment to a compelling mission," said Matt Sanderson, president & CEO, Smithbucklin. "Our new organizing model brings together the best of Smithbucklin’s expertise and 75 years of experience with our commitment to future success of associations in every industry, field, and profession."

McNeil has more than 30 years of experience working with associations and for-profit companies and has served as a senior executive leader at Smithbucklin for more than a decade, in a variety of roles. "Jim is uniquely qualified to lead our association management organization," said Sanderson. "He is a proven leader with a deep understanding of how professional associations, societies, and communities operate, and he is committed to ambitious growth, to our vision of success for Smithbucklin association clients, and to building collaborative, high-performing client networks and teams."

McNeil stated, "I am proud to take on the new role of president, association management and eager to advance the ambitions of our current and future association management clients while developing and advancing the next generation of association executives. This is a pivotal moment for Smithbucklin, as we set a long-term aspiration to help shape and accelerate a new era of growth for associations that is both sustainable and inclusive."

Sanderson indicates this organizational change is the first of several announcements coming in 2023 that will continue to position Smithbucklin at the vanguard of association leadership, stewardship, and growth.

"These changes are part of an ongoing organizational initiative to focus on innovation and excellence in our core business, Association Management, and build capacity in other lines of business, including further strengthening of our growing agency and outsourcing capabilities."
